Meditation

Meditation: Definition (http://www.answers.com/meditation)

Meditation is a practice of concentrated focus upon a sound, object, visualization, the breath, movement, or attention itself in order to increase awareness of the present moment, reduce stress, promote relaxation, and enhance personal and spiritual growth.

Origins

Meditation techniques have been practiced for millennia. Originally, they were intended to develop spiritual understanding, awareness, and direct experience of ultimate reality. The many different religious traditions in the world have given rise to a rich variety of meditative practices. These include the contemplative practices of Christian religious orders, the Buddhist practice of sitting meditation, and the whirling movements of the Sufi dervishes. Although meditation is an important spiritual practice in many religious and spiritual traditions, it can be practiced by anyone regardless of their religious or cultural background to relieve stress and pain.

As Western medical practitioners begin to understand the mind’s role in health and disease, there has been more interest in the use of meditation in medicine. Meditative practices are increasingly offered in medical clinics and hospitals as a tool for improving health and quality of life. Meditation has been used as the primary therapy for treating certain diseases; as an additional therapy in a comprehensive treatment plan; and as a means of improving the quality of life of people with debilitating, chronic, or terminal illnesses.

Sitting meditation is generally done in an upright seated position, either in a chair or cross-legged on a cushion on the floor. The spine is straight yet relaxed. Sometimes the eyes are closed. Other times the eyes are open and gazing softly into the distance at an object. Depending on the type of meditation, the meditator may be concentrating on the sensation of the movement of the breath, counting the breath, silently repeating a sound, chanting, visualizing an image, focusing awareness on the center of the body, opening to all sensory experiences including thoughts, or performing stylized ritual movements with the hands.

Movement meditation can be spontaneous and freeform or involve highly structured, choreographed, repetitive patterns. Movement meditation is particularly helpful for those people who find it difficult to remain still.

Generally speaking, there are two main types of meditation. These types are concentration meditation and mindfulness meditation. Concentration meditation practices involve focusing attention on a single object. Objects of meditation can include the breath, an inner or external image, a movement pattern (as in tai chi or yoga), or a sound, word, or phrase that is repeated silently (mantra). The purpose of concentrative practices is to learn to focus one's attention or develop concentration. When thoughts or emotions arise, the meditator gently directs the mind back to the original object of concentration.

Mindfulness meditation practices involve becoming aware of the entire field of attention. The meditator is instructed to be aware of all thoughts, feelings, perceptions or sensations as they arise in each moment. Mindfulness meditation practices are enhanced by the meditator's ability to focus and quiet the mind. Many meditation practices are a blend of these two forms.

I teach this meditation to help with the integration and boundaries of energies so that the being is not overwhelmed with energies just floating in and out.
These energies can zap a person in the mental, physical and emotional bodies, causing instability in the nine bodies.

Consider yourself within the crystal ball.
Walk to the door way, see the door.
Create a word which speaks to this sacred space/place. (keep it to yourself, no other is allowed to know its name).
Create a password to open the door, (again keep it to yourself, no other can know the word.)
When the first word is spoken (inwardly or out loud) you can see inside.
When the second word is spoken you can enter into the sacred space.

This sacred space is the place where you can access all realms from your center being.
Your counsel, teachers, your guides, avatars and highest Divine Love.

When you want to journey with another, with me for instance, stand in the center of your sacred space and allow your counsel to surround you, see the divine light move through you and ask, "may I work with this person at this time?"
They will say 'yes' or 'no'.
Follow their direction.

If they say yes, look to the right of the sacred space and see a bridge. On the other side of the bridge see a triangular door.
This door is the door to the night self of the one whom you are working with.

Allow your counsel to go with you. When you cross the bridge, see on the door that there is a combination, create a sacred word which allows you into this door way. Say the word, the triangular door opens and you and your counsel enter. Close the door behind you.
Call in the counsel of the one whom you are working with and see that person sitting across from you on a rectangular mat.
Ask the counsels what they wish to share. Listen and allow them to speak.

When the session is over see the being in front of you surrounded by the divine light and ask that their counsel continue to bless them.
Use your password to get out of the triangle, close the door behind you. Return to the center of your sacred space.
See the white light fall through your bodies cleansing and letting go of any and all residual energies.
See your counsel and guides standing around you holding your sacred space allow them to heal you in anyway that they see fit.

Practice this daily upon waking before you go to work so that you do not pick up the energies from others without your complete and aware permission.

Please use and get intimately used to this process.
Love and hugs,
Wiilow

The purpose of the I AM meditation is to connect to Source and wake up a specific path for Divine Light to move through your bodies. It opens the gateways through the Eye of God/Spirit, Heart/Soul, and Base/Matter to allow the River of Divine Light to Flow through your being.

Begin by grounding yourself by doing the Crescent Breath 3 times (or as many times as it takes to feel grounded). The Crescent Breath comes in through the 3rd eye chakra located on your forehead between your brows, goes through the hypothalamus, down the spine through the chakras, and into the earth.

Close your base chakra.

Open your hand chakras by rubbing your hands together and feeling the energy between your hands.

Move your left hand to in front of your base chakra, i.e. down to your lap.

Move your right hand above your head, feeling the energy moving down from your hand to the top of your head.

Feel the white light energy flowing down on to the top of your right hand.

When the energy equalizes as it flows downward:
move your right hand down to in front of your face (third eye chakra)
tap between your brows twice,
saying I AM
feel the energy flowing down to your brow chakra and spreading outward

Take a breath, move your right hand down to in front of your heart chakra
tap your breast bone once in the center of your breasts (heart chakra)
saying THAT
feel the energy flowing down to your heart chakra and spreading outward

Take a breath, move your right hand down to your lap
clap your hands together
saying I AM
feeling the energy flowing down to your base chakra and spreading outward
remember to keep your base chakra closed

Take a breath, feeling the river of white light flowing into your being.

The above sequence from "right hand above the head" is done 4 times saying:
I AM THAT I AM I AM your name I AM I AM DIVINE I AM I AM THAT I AM

Crescent Breath and I AM Meditation©

Teachings of Willow Tequillo
As Recorded by Linnea Haley

  1. Definition: The I AM Meditation, which includes the Crescent Breath, is a daily spiritual practice that is part of our Rule of Life. Willow Tequillo, Spiritual Guide and Medicine Woman, received this practice from her Master and Teacher, the Ascended Master Serapis Bay. When combined with the Native American Dance of Creation, both the outer and inner circles are created and maintained as we experience daily life. The complete I AM Meditation accesses Divine Love and Divine Light, sending it throughout our bodies and returning it to Matter, Mater, Great Mother, Mother Earth. The complete meditation aligns the nine bodies. As human beings, we work more consciously with the Mind Body, Emotional Body, and Physical Bodies, thus creating experiencing more consciously a divine integration, as ONEness.

  2. Outline of Peak Awarenesses and General Directions: Each individual on this spiritual path participates daily in this basic practice. This practice takes place as part of your morning and evening dedications upon waking and just before bed. A third session mid-day is practiced to ensure the integrity of your personal space. The two meditations can be done separately, but retain their fullest impact when practiced together.

The I AM Meditation can take place before your altar with a candle lit or any other regular space for prayer, meditation, and contemplation. It is an intentional act of creating sacred time and sacred space. It can also be practiced in any setting when you most need balance, focus and clarity. The I AM Meditation, including the Crescent Breath, is used to get back to center, creating grounding. It can precede or begin a community meeting or other spiritual activity in which Spirit is invoked. The only thing needed to participate is your loving intent and the commitment to be Here and Fully Present.
It is important to be aware of and journal the changes in your practice. Be sure to record the physical sensations you are experiencing. Record the emotional feelings you are experiencing. Record the mental thoughts and processes you are thinking.

Overall Purpose: The purpose of the complete meditation is to connect to the center of our being in balance. We do this by lighting up the core, or I AM Presence within our nine bodies. The I AM Presence activates an energetic light form or column, which consciously connects us to our Soul or Divine Self. By empowering our Soul energies through the vehicle of the I AM Presence, we co-create with our Ego the balanced clarity of a single vessel of light. This creates a gentle and peaceful uniting, unifying and awakening for the human body in unison with the divine body, thus beginning the process of unification of the Divine Human Being.

When thinking about our process of spiritual development and formation, we can use the egg as an example. Think of a raw egg, it has three distinct circles within the circle. The inner most sacred is the yoke. The I AM Meditation is a means to care for this inner sanctuary. We can also relate to this part of our process as being represented by the womb or feminine aspect of ourselves. The second is the white or connecting substance. The health of this part of the egg is sustained and maintained in health by our daily practice of our overall Rule of Life. The outer shell of the egg is represented by the masculine. Its health and wellbeing is nourished, sustained, and maintained in good health by the Dance of Creation. It is created to protect the yoke and keep it sacred and safe. The Dance of Creation’s creative, protecting energy field holds the intentions of the dance for 25 yards.

The I AM Meditation has two parts and a transition:

  • Crescent Breath
  • Transition
  • I AM Meditation

Crescent Breath: The purpose of the Crescent Breath is to receive Divine White Light into our bodies. White Light enters through the Crown Chakra, moving down and back to the hypothalamus, down the spine, through the chakras, and resting at the Root Chakra. With a deep and forceful out-breath, the Crescent Breath anchors, grounds, and gives back this Light, life force, to Mother Earth. The purpose of the Crescent Breath Meditation is to clear our various bodies of stagnate and unkempt energies. We are clearing our energy fields within our nine bodies, by cleansing and washing with the Divine Breath of White Light.

The Crescent Breath uses four movements and 3-7 repetitions or more as needed.

  • With an in-breath, the tip of the tongue is curled back and touches the roof of the mouth while the belly or abdomen is slowly filling with air, expanding out. By placing the tongue on the roof of the mouth, the air experiences a clear pathway.
  • With the in-breath, one hand traces the shape of the crescent moon, starting at the tip (parallel to the forehead) moving inward toward the heart, finishing out-stretched at the knees. The other hand rests at the Root or on the thigh.
  • Divine White Light is humbly received by the bodies through the Crown Chakra, directing it with the hand from the Third Eye Chakra, down, to the Heart Chakra, to the Root Chakra.
  • With a forceful out-breath, the Light force energy is pushed down the legs, out the feet, and back into Mother Earth with gratitude.

Transition: The purpose of the transition is to create and activate the Light, life force in the chakras of your hands. After rubbing them vigorously, the right hand circles the top of the head to activate and open the Crown Chakra. Learn to feel the energy moving in your hands and above your Crown.

The Transition has four movements with a single practice, no repetitions.

If no Crescent Breath has been practiced prior to starting the I AM portion, begin with two, deep cleansing breaths. Inhale from the nose, vigorously exhale through the mouth.

  • Immediately after the Crescent Breath, the muscles of your bottom (anus) are tightened.
  • Rub hands, palms together, vigorously at waist level.
  • Slowly pull hands apart, continuing to circle, feeling the energy present in the space between the hands, like a ball.
  • Left hand rests on left thigh or between the legs, palm facing the heavens in a cup position, while the right hand circles the Crown Chakra to open and activate. Practice feeling the energy present in the space between the hand and the Crown.

I AM Meditation: The purpose of the I AM Meditation is to connect our nine bodies and consciously connect the Mental Body, the Physical Body, and the Emotional Body. It is an invocation to Divine Love to enter our Being through the conscious opening of the Crown Chakra. A flow of Divine Love and Light connects the Third Eye, the Heart, and the Root Chakras to experience an integrated wholeness. The I AM Meditation is a powerful tool, which provides the Mental Body, Physical Body, and Emotional Body access to our ONEness. We are Creation, both Spirit and Matter, Great Spirit and Great Mother. The Divine Light, which is both Divine Great Spirit and Divine Great Mother (Mater, Mother) is enhanced and invoked by the unity and unification of all life.

Willow reminds us that, "The First stop is the Third Eye, which energetically calls forth our Soul Memory. The Second stop is the Heart Chakra, which is the transformer of feelings into Emotions. Emotions are the Memory of Soul through every incarnation. The Third stop is the Root Chakra, which is the Individual as Self/self. When this energy is called forth, our three bodies unite in the energetic flow of Divine Love. It is here that we truly meet ourselves for the first time by re-membering who we are, through experiencing ourselves as wholeness."

"I AM THAT I AM" meditations have been used for centuries in search for Higher understanding. We first hear of this meditation through Moses in the Old Testament (Bible). The story goes, after 40 years of wandering through the wilderness, Moses with intention, goes up to Mount Sinai to gain some clarity and understanding. There, at the top of the mountain, Moses is presented with a burning bush. Moses meets Divine and receives guidance and direction. He is told to go into Egypt and free 'the people.' Moses, feeling inadequate and without proper resources mentally, physically, spiritually or emotionally, asks Divine for further guidance. After sometime and conversation, Moses asks, 'Who shall I say that you are?' Divine answers, 'I AM THAT I AM.' By practicing the complete I AM Meditation, we allow Divine to speak to us and begin answering our two deepest questions: 'Who am I? Who are you?'

I AM Meditation Instructions 12-2004

The I AM Meditation has six movements of four repetitions.

  • Hold one hand at the Root Chakra or resting on the leg with palm up.
  • Hold the other hand over the top of the Crown Chakra.
  • Sense a ball of energy between the hand and the Crown as you rotate the hand above the head.
  • Sense the fall of White Light like water on the top of the hand.
  • As you remove the hand to do the first tap on the Third Eye, Feel Divine White Light entering the Crown Chakra. As you tap the third eye, the water stops as if hitting a rock and splashing outward in all directions. Say, "I AM" simultaneously.
  • Next, move hand to tap the chest, saying, "That." See the White Light simultaneously cascade down to the Heart region and again splash upon the solid foundation.
  • Next, move the hand to the Root and slap hard on the other hand. The second hand stays stationary. Say, "I AM." See the White Light simultaneously fall and hit bottom.
  • Begin the second round with the tapping of the third eye.
  • Sequence:
First: I AM THAT I AM.
Second repetition: I AM DIVINE I AM.
Third repetition: I AM __ I AM. (substitute your name)
Fourth repetition: I AM THAT I AM.

At the end, journal the three bodies' experiences. What does my Mind Think? What does my Physical Body Sense? What do I Emotionally Feel?

Story

Picture yourself sitting in a quiet place, peace and calm all around. Your spine is straight. Your feet are flat on the ground. Your hands are resting gently together on your lap. You have just finished the Crescent Breath. Your body is filled with Divine White Light, in every cell, every organ. You feel grounded to Mother Earth, stable, centered, balanced.

Your bottom is closed, your tongue is on the roof of your mouth as you begin to rub your hands, activating the energy in the chakras of your hands. As you gently pull them apart, you feel the energy moving, bouncing between the palms of your hands. It’s like playing with a ball of energy, rolling it. As your left hand moves to rest on your left thigh, your right hand moves to the Crown Chakra, circling above and around, feeling energy between the Crown and your hand.

Begin to picture and sense Divine White Light resting on the top of the hand and the bottom of your hand is holding steady the energy between the palm and the Crown. As you move your hand away, see the White Light entering your Crown from above and into the Crown splashing on the floor of the Third Eye or 6th Chakra. See and experience this wet light traveling like on the floor, simultaneously saying "I AM."

"This tap represents and we 'see' the fall of Light hit the plate of the spinning chakra. Or think of a water fall crashing water on the floor, this water (light) stops at the Third Eye and splashes up, filling the space between the Third Eye and the Crown Chakra. Another way to picture this movement is the combined energy drops, hits the plate and spins outward and simultaneously is pulled upward, filling the space between the Third Eye and the Crown."

"Then we move to the Heart Chakra. When we tap the heart, we 'see' the Light fall from the Third Eye, hitting the spinning plate of the Heart Chakra. Light stops when it hits the plate or floor. This Light splashes out and up and fills the body between the heart and the CROWN."

"We check and make sure our Root Chakra is STILL closed tight. Next, from the Heart to the Root Chakra with a loud smack or clap of the hands. The right hand actually drops like the energy and slaps the left hand. We 'see' the cascade of Light from the Heart Chakra fall into the Root Chakra and splash up, filling the body inside, up to the Crown Chakra. There will be an experience of Light over flowing. Energy surrounds the full physical body and envelopes it like a lotus flower, surrounded by energy within and without. This will begin to look like a lotus flower embracing the being. It is here that our bubble is renewed and filled full with the energy of White Light."

3. Specific Steps and Directions

Crescent Breath

  1. Sitting with spine straight, feet flat on the floor, hands in prayer position at the heart. (or a yoga position, seiza bench position)
  2. Repeat "I AM HERE AND FULLY PRESENT," three times while breathing gently.
  3. Take two cleansing breaths. Breathe in through the nose and forcefully out the mouth.
  4. Place the tip of the tongue on the roof of the mouth.
  5. Picture a large crescent moon resting on your lap, with the two tips extended out in front of you and the center of the moon touching your chest. The top tip is level with the Third Eye and the bottom tip is level with the Root Chakra. The Moon is facing out, open. (If the moon is facing your body, creating a closed space, the position is not correct.)
  6. Place left hand on left thigh, extend right hand out in front of you level with your forehead. (If left-handed, reverse, or use whatever hand feels comfortable.)
  7. From the starting point of the Crescent Moon position, begin your in-breath through the nose, slowly, steadily, filling the belly with breath. This in-breath is the full movement of the crescent moon from tip to tip.
  8. At the same time, begin to trace the shape of the crescent starting at the tip, sweeping your hand in, toward your forehead and Third Eye Chakra. Continue tracing the crescent down your face, the middle of the moon past your heart, down to your Root Chakra.
  9. In gratitude and humility, direct this Divine White Light, light energy down through your spine and chakras with the finger tips.
  10. At your Root Chakra, extend your hand all the way out at the base tip of the crescent moon shape, parallel to the knees.
  11. Stop and hold the breath at the Root Chakra for a few moments.
  12. With an out-breath through the nose, give Divine White Light back to Mother.
  13. Turn right palm face down, and gently push the energy down your legs, out the bottoms of your feet and back into Mother Earth in gratitude and cherishment.
  14. Be sure to push out all the breath from the belly, pushing the belly flat, back to the spine.
  15. Gracefully move your right hand up to the starting position at the top of the crescent and begin again.
  16. Repeat steps #6-12 a minimum of three times. Four to seven times to sense and feel the connection of energy. More if needed.

Transition

  1. At the end of the last Crescent Breath, tighten the muscles of your bottom (anus) to close the Root Chakra. Check to make sure the tongue is still on the roof of the mouth so that the air experiences a clear pathway.
  2. With an in-breath through the nose, breathe in and fill the belly.
  3. While breathing in, rub both hands together rigorously to engage and create energy in the chakras of
  4. Slowly pull hands apart about 2-3 inches, continue circling, feeling the energy present between the hands. Breathe out through the nose.
  5. With another in-breath through the nose, fill the belly and HOLD.
  6. Place left hand on left thigh. Using the right hand, circle above the Crown Chakra several times, activating the opening and allowing Light to flow in from above the hand, down through the top of the hand. Begin to sense and experience the Light moving down through the top of the hand, flowing into the Crown.

I AM Meditation

"This Divine flow of energy can look like a water fall or a stream of Light. It is energetic and the physical body can sense its movement as if it were a water fall. The hand above the head moves in a circular position creating a vortex of energy of 'as is above – so is below,' the hand itself being the conduit to which both energies are attracted."

  1. With a full belly breath, the right hand taps the Third Eye twice, saying "I AM."
  2. As you move down to the Heart, the air is exhaled while the right hand taps the Heart one time, saying "THAT."
  3. As you direct the energy down to the Root Chakra, the breath continues to exhale while the right hand slaps the left with a loud smack, saying "I AM."
  4. Push any extra breath out, keeping hands together after the slap. Holding hands together, begin a steady in-breath to refill the belly.
  5. When the belly is full, begin the second repetition. The right hand taps the Third Eye twice, saying "I AM."
  6. Light energy spills down to the Heart and tap once, saying "DIVINE."
  7. At the Root Chakra, slap once with a loud smack, saying "I AM."
  8. Repeat two more times. On the third repetition say your name at the Heart. Say THAT on the last repetition at the Heart. Finish with I AM.
  9. At the end of the fourth repetition, sit quietly and notice how you feel. Connect to your mental body, your physical body, emotional body, and spiritual body. This is a perfect time to go into a meditation, contemplation, prayer, or your sacred space.
